What Is ProRAW?
ProRAW is Apple’s RAW image format which is available on the iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, and likely future release of the iPhones. This format allows iPhone users to capture as much information in a scene as possible.
The iPhone's ProRAW serves the purpose of capturing still images and isn’t compatible with video. But look on the bright side, you can use ProRAW with all lenses on your iPhone device. It is also compatible with features like Night mode, SmartHDR and Deep Fusion.
How to Enable ProRAW on iPhone
As at the end of 2020, the ProRAW is supported on the iPhone 12 Pro, and requires iOS 14.3 or later. Future release of the iPhone are likely to support ProRAW as well.
To enable ProRAW on your iPhone all you have to do is just follow the steps below:
First, head to Settings on your device.
From the Settings screen select Camera, then Formats and enable Apple ProRAW.
That's all, now that the ProRAW feature is turned on, launch the Camera app. You can do this from your home screen, via Control Center, or by just asking Siri.
You will see a “RAW” button near the Live Photos toggle. You can tap on it to deactivate (When deactivated you will see a line through it) or activate it and shoot in RAW.
