How to Activate Dark Mode for Google Search on Desktop


Google Search has joined the recent Dark Mode trend after the popular search engine was updated with the option to enable Dark Mode on desktop.

This feature enables Google search users to enjoy a a Night-like appearance while navigating through Google, which means they will now have three options (Device default, Dark, or Light) in appearance settings of the search engine.

The Dark Mode is a feature that has come to stay due to the fact that  it helps reduce eye strain by keeping a minimum contrast ratio required for readability.

The Dark Mode feature is now available for the Google homepage, Search results page, Search settings, and other linked webpages.

How to Activate Dark Mode for Google Search on Desktop


Follow the steps below to enable Dark Mode on Google Search.

  1. First, Open Google Search in your Web browser.
  2. Locate the the bottom right corner on the Google Search homepage, and click on Settings.
  3. From here select Appearance; in case it's not visible under Settings, just click on Search Settings and then on Appearance from the left panel of the page that opens.
  4. Choose between - Device default, Dark, or Light.
  5. At the bottom, click Save.

That's all. You have successfully activated the Dark Mode Feature on your Google search.
