3 Ways To Connect An iPhone Or iPad To Your TV
In this guide, you will learn 3 ways to connect an iPhone or iPad to your TV.
In this new age, iOS devices have one of the best displays alongside a great media player, but sometimes you may require a wider screen. Here's how to connect your phone to your TV.
3 Ways To Connect An iPhone Or iPad To Your TV
If you need to connect an iPhone or iPad to your television for whatever reason, then you are on the right page. Follow the steps below to connect your Apple device to any modern TV.
Connect With Apple AirPlay
This method is the easiest way to connect your iPhone wirelessly with Apple's AirPlay feature, which is readily available on your mobile device's operating system. Apple AirPlay allows you to mirror or cast content from your iPhone or iPad to any AirPlay 2-compatible smart TV, like Apple TV, or certain Roku devices. Follow the steps below to use AirPlay to stream directly from apps.
- First, make sure that your iPhone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Apple TV or AirPlay 2-compatible smart TV.
- Next, also make sure your TV is on and displaying your Apple TV screen.
- Now, navigate to the video you want to stream from a third-party app, such as Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, HBO Max, and others. Note that the AirPlay feature is no longer available on the Netflix app.
- Begin playing the video on your iPhone, and you should see the AirPlay icon in the upper-right corner of the video screen.
- Tap the AirPlay icon, which looks like a rectangle with a triangle in it.
- Finally, from the list of AirPlay options, select your device, and your video should begin streaming on that device.
Connect with HDMI or VGA Cable
You can connect your iPhone or iPad to a TV with a HDMI cable or a VGA cable for older TVs. We will recommend the HDMI cable because it will provide the highest quality.
You can get a Lightning to Digital AV Adapter from Apple or a Lightning to VGA Adapter. Follow the steps below to connect your iPhone to your TV or monitor with a HDMI adapter.
- First, connect the adapter to an HDMI (or VGA) cable.
- Next, connect the cable to an input on your television or monitor.
- Now, plug the adapter into the iPhone's Lightning port and turn on the phone.
- Finally, You will need to switch to the input you just attached the cable to with the TV's control panel or remote control.
That's all. Your iPhone's display will now be mirrored on the TV.
Connect with Apple's screen mirroring feature
This method is similar to the AirPlay option and helps you connect an iPhone to an Apple TV-compatible device. Follow the steps below to get started.
- First, connect the iPhone to the same Wi-Fi network as your Apple TV or AirPlay 2-compatible smart TV.
- Next, also make sure your TV is on and displaying your Apple TV screen.
- Open the iPhone's Control Center. You can do this by swiping down from the top right side of the screen. Note that if you have an iPhone 8 or earlier, or iOS 11 or earlier, you can access the Control Center by swiping up from the bottom of the screen.
- Finally, from the Control Center, tap "Screen Mirroring" and then select your device name from the list of available options.
That's all. Your iPhone screen should now be mirrored onto your TV.
